well for starters, we know very little about the new iphone 3.0
we know that it will carry 16GB and 32GB internal memory, with NO expandability,
it will not have the metal perimeter anymore,
it will change the back cover to a more pastic feel(not 100% confirmed),
it will have the glowing apple sign at the back(just like their macbooks),
it will have an imporved 3.2 mp camera WITH auto focus, and video recording ablity,
it may use AMOLED screen, like the omnia,
it may have 256mb of ram (vs the current 128mb),
it may have a 600MHz processor (vs the current 400),
with all that said, it is still a 3G phone in north america, which to me is very important seeing how i live in canada. That feature is lacking in the Omnia series(speaking from owning the Samsung Omnia i900), this alone pushed me off the edge of not wanting to buy the Omnia HD.
Spec wise, the HD is a lot better if you are a consumer in Europe or asia, since it is 3G compatiable. The iphone personally is still for more regular usage, because you dont get the fancy specs geeks look for, its just prractical for standard use, but worse is that, EVERYONE has one, which it has not lost its “wow” edge in the market.
The Omnia is for more power hungry consumers, where it can be used for a much better camera, video recording, Xvid, and my personal favourite, YOU DONT NEED ITUNES AKA, CRAP SOFTWARE.
Summarize, go for the HD if you want true power and a better phone, but go for the iphone if you like lots of apps(most being useless and expensive, with little or no fireware upgrades) and a music phone.
